Esteemed Professional Colleagues,
Greetings to you all.
And finally heaven started pouring. The hot days are over and we are now blessed with Monsoon showers and the joy of hearing the music of rain is a pleasant experience.
We are all now fortunate to be a part of the enactment of the most important tax legislation in the history of Independent India. GST is also heralded as a business reform. As we understand, this permits the flow of tax to the destination of consumption and Kerala being a Consumption based economy the benefits of this new legislation can be largely enjoyed by the State. Hence as professionals we are also duty bound to see that our clients get timely advice so as to enjoy the credit of input taxes. The transitional provisions are to be analysed deeply and timely actions may initiated to make the transformation to the new GST regime smooth. The Institute is organising various programmes at various levels to educate the members on this. I am happy to note that our branch is also able to conduct Virtual Certification Course organised by the Indirect Taxes Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. 15 members enrolled for the programme being a Webcast and eminent speakers of the Country are discussing the Provisions of the GST Law. At Branch level we have arranged a Seminar on Transitional Provisions which was well attended in which Former Central Council Member CA Rajendra Kumar was the speaker.
Also the Return filing process for the Assessment Year 2017-18 has already been started at our office. The Income Computation and Disclosure Standards are compulsory from this Assessment Year. We have organised a programme for the members at the Institute hall and our Honourable Central Council Member Sri. M.P. Vijayakumar spoke on the issue. This programme was also well attended by the members.
Now we are also going through the month of Ramadan. The ultimate aim of fasting in the month Ramadan is to promote unity and brotherhood and equality before God. Let this holy month cultivate in us the Principle of Sincere love.
