Chairman's Message

Chairman's Message

Dear Esteemed Professional Colleagues,

I am sure all of you will have some time to relax after completing the tax audit assignments, before entering into the Income Tax Assessments which time may become barred by December 2016. In the meantime, we have to continue with our professional development and update ourselves with the latest developments happening in our country. GST is going to be implemented by April 2017. We are planning to conduct a series of programs to update us with the various aspects of the GST Law.

We had the Onam celebrations on 10th September. It was a gala function with our past Chairman CA. Dinesh R.Shenoy. We were excited to see our members with their family, especially the little children of our young leaders participating in various events and had an incredible event with My Principal- My Teacher. This was organised under the guidelines of ICAI. Our members have created an imprint of a long lasting memory of the events of the day and the function was charged with the sense of gratitude and respect for our great Teachers and the principal. I am glad we could share a meal with all of our members and provide a small bit of thanks for all of your contributions to the function.

In October we had our Residential CPE Seminar at Vythiri Village at Vythiri. The seminar was inaugurated by CA. Jomon K George, SIRC Secretary and was enjoyed by all the members and their family. The response from the participants leads a grand success.

The members of the managing Committee attended the International Conference of ICAI at Hyderabad on 22nd and 23rd of October. The conference was meticulously planned and organised under the leadership of C A.M Devaraja Reddy our President and his team. We had the opportunity to interact with the leaders in our profession.

Our CPE seminar on Annual e-filing under Companies Act and Directors Report was conducted on 25th October. It was well attended and greatly appreciated for its detailed analysis. In November and December, we are planning for various workshops on GST. We will start this once the relevant documents are released by the GST council. I am very happy to inform the members that branch has obtained the KSEB connection and the trial run of the lift has begun. This is a great relief so that we can use the branch infrastructure very comfortably.

The IPCC coaching classes are being conducted on Saturdays and Sundays. Our Vice Chairman C A. Anil P is to be given full credit for organising the classes without any break till date. I should thank all my committee members for their support in administering the branch activities, and in conducting various programmes. I thank all the members for their support and request your valuable suggestions to make the branch activities better for the benefit of our professional community so that we can march ahead to an unparalleled excellence in our professional service.

Yours in professional service

CA Josy Thomas

Chairman,

Kottayam Branch of SIRC
